We have been producing plywood for over 20 years at Qiangyi Wood. In our experience, even if we choose urea formaldehyde resin plywood now, which has been certified and meets all specifications, the problem will gradually become apparent after 2-3 years, especially in rural areas where the climate is humid and susceptible to termite invasion, furniture will become moldy and smelly.
However, most plywood buyers do not realize until they encounter this situation that choosing a good plywood is the real way to save money. We can calculate a bill, for example: ordinary plywood costs $17 per sheet, and we also need to do insect resistant chemical treatment for $2 per sheet, which costs $19 per sheet. After 2-3 years of efficacy, there is still a risk of termite invasion and constant replacement and repair. The labor cost and material cost will be very high. However, choosing plywood with anti termite function, which costs $26 per sheet, will not be affected by termites for nearly 10 years and does not require insect resistant chemical treatment. Therefore, choosing a good plywood not only saves money, but also reduces many troubles.
As is well known, urea formaldehyde resin plywood is weakly acidic. The pH value after curing is between 4.5 and 5.5. This is not a defect, it’s just due to its chemical properties. This environment is a comfort zone for termites. Wood fiber is their food. Acidic environment is the home of termites. In humid weather conditions, urea formaldehyde resin plywood cabinets are like a “free apartment” for termites.

So we started researching how to kill them.
Through our continuous research and development, we have produced plywood using magnesium oxide and alkaline curing processes. We all know that termites are insects that prefer acidic environments, and our glutinous rice glue plywood is alkaline. Termites cannot survive in alkaline environments, so kitchen cabinets made with glutinous rice glue plywood basically have no traces of termites. In addition, we have also passed the testing of the Chinese Academy of Biological Sciences, and the anti termite level has reached 9.5.

We have a client in Kuala Lumpur who replaced all cabinet frames with sticky rice plywood in January last year. They previously used urea formaldehyde resin boards, which were repaired 8-12 times a month due to termite infestation, and in the first six months of using new boards. No repairs were carried out due to termite infestation. So using good plywood can reduce many invisible costs for us.
So do you still think our boards are expensive? Yes. Approximately 15% to 20% more expensive, depending on the thickness and volume of the plywood. However, the loss of warranty claims and your reputation in the market due to a batch of problematic goods is not worth the loss.
